What is the Patient Portal?

The Patient Portal is a free, HIPAA-compliant online service powered by FollowMyHealth®. It gives patients and parents secure, 24/7 access to health information and a direct line of communication with our office.

Access the portal from any web browser, or download the free FollowMyHealth® mobile app for iOS or Android.

Parents and guardians can link multiple children under one account and grant proxy access to other authorized caregivers.

Getting Started

How to Create Your FollowMyHealth Account

Before you begin: You must receive an invitation from The Pediatric Center before creating your account. Use the sign-up forms below to request your invitation.

Check your email for the invitation

You will receive an email from FollowMyHealth (noreply@followmyhealth.com) with the subject line "Invitation to join FollowMyHealth." Click the Click Here link inside the email to begin registration.

Select "Sign Up and Connect"

You will be taken to The Pediatric Center's FollowMyHealth page. Click the green button that reads First time using FollowMyHealth? Sign Up and Connect.

If you already have a FollowMyHealth account, choose Sign in and add this connection instead and skip to step four.

Create your username and password

On the Sign Up and Connect screen, enter a username (email works best) and create a password. Your password must be at least 8 characters and include at least one number and one special character.

A confirmation email with your username will be sent to you — save it for your records.

Step 1 of 5 — Welcome screen

You will be walked through a 5-step account connection process. Read the introduction and click Next to continue.

Step 2 of 5 — Accept terms of service

Review the FollowMyHealth Universal Health Record Terms of Use, then click I Accept to proceed.

Step 3 of 5 — Enter your invite code

Enter your child's invite code which was provided in the invitation email. This is the code The Pediatric Center uses to verify your child's identity.

If this code does not work, contact our office and we can confirm the correct code for your child.

Step 4 of 5 — Request for access

Review the Request for Access form, which confirms your name and authorizes The Pediatric Center to release your child's healthcare information to your FollowMyHealth record. Click I Accept to continue.

You will receive an email confirming your patient portal account has been successfully created.

Step 5 of 5 — Upload health record

FollowMyHealth will retrieve and upload your child's basic demographics and health record from The Pediatric Center. This happens automatically — just wait for it to complete.

You're in! View your health summary

Once setup is complete, you will land on your Health Summary dashboard. From here you can view your child's health information, schedule appointments, send secure messages, and more.

You will receive two final emails: one confirming your connection to The Pediatric Center, and one notifying you that a clinical item has been added to your child's health record.

View visit summaries, immunization history, medications, allergies, growth charts, and vitals — and download or print records as a PDF.

Lab & Test Results

View lab results and imaging reports as soon as they are released, and receive notifications when new results are available.

Appointments

Request and schedule appointments, view upcoming visits, receive automated reminders, and complete pre-visit check-in forms online.

Secure Messaging

Send non-urgent questions directly to our office. For urgent concerns during office hours, please call us at (804) 266-9616.

Prescriptions

Request routine prescription refills, manage your preferred pharmacy, and view prescription history.

Billing & Account

View and pay outstanding balances, access billing statements, and update your contact and insurance information.

Common Questions

Yes, the portal is free for all patients of The Pediatric Center of Richmond. There is no cost to register or use any of the portal's features.
Yes. FollowMyHealth® uses HIPAA-compliant encryption and secure servers to protect all patient health information. Access is protected by your individual username and password, and records are never shared with third parties without your written consent.
Yes. As a parent or legal guardian, you may link multiple children to a single login. You may also request proxy access so that another parent or caregiver can view your child's records. To set up proxy access, please use the Parent Proxy Account form above.
For patients between the ages of 12 and 17, certain portions of the medical record may be restricted in accordance with Virginia state privacy law. Please call our office if you have questions about what is and is not visible.
First, check your spam or junk folder for an email from noreply@followmyhealth.com. If you still cannot locate it, please call our office at (804) 266-9616 and a staff member will issue a new invitation.

Troubleshooting

  • Check your spam folder for emails from noreply@followmyhealth.com
  • Invitation links expire after 30 days — call us for a new one
  • Use "Forgot password" on the login page to reset your credentials
  • Account activation takes 1–3 business days after registration
