Letter to Parents
Dear Parents,
The Pediatric Center has been happily caring for the children of Richmond since 1962. For decades, we have strived to provide excellent pediatric care in a warm and welcoming setting and were recently recognized by Style Weekly readers as a “Family Favorite” practice.
The care of children has certainly gone through many exciting changes since the Pediatric Center opened its doors in 1962. Many disease entities are now diagnosed earlier, and treatment of these conditions has been vastly improved. We are continually broadening our understanding of the growth and development of children and have implemented screening for early recognition of developmental delays and disorders. The advent of many important vaccines has significantly reduced the incidence of many childhood infectious diseases.
The delivery of this care can sometimes be challenging. Insurance plans have limited some of the choices we have as patients and providers. As parents, it seems that the ever-increasing business of life sometimes makes getting to the office difficult. The emergence of urgent care and retail-based clinics has seemingly helped to ease this burden, but we are interested in providing cohesive, medical home-based care in our offices. We want you and your child to have continuity and consistency in your healthcare.
In an effort to accommodate the needs of our patients and improve access, we are on call 24/7 and provide clinic hours on Saturday mornings at the VCC office. We also realize that working parents often need to have their sick children seen early in the morning, so they can get to work and school. To this end, we have implemented an Early Bird “quick sick” hour. In addition, there is expanded availability of same-day sick appointments. We hope that making it easier for you to be seen consistently at the Pediatric Center will improve continuity of care for your child.
Electronic medical records and patient access to these records is another exciting aspect of medicine today. We will continue to leverage technology to improve patient access and communication.
Through all the years and changing times, however, there will always be one constant. We at the Pediatric Center will always put your child’s needs first. We are a friendly and dynamic group, with a wide range of backgrounds and experience, and we are excited to meet every aspect of your child’s health!
