Visit Expectations

What should I expect?

1. Our behavioral health coordinator contacts families and schedules all consult appointments when appropriate.
2. Your consult appointment may be scheduled as a “tandem appointment”. A tandem appointment is a back-to-back appointment with one of our MDs or NPs and one of our psychologists.
3. A consult appointment lasts about 1 hour. The psychologist will gather background information, interact with your child, and might ask you or your child’s teachers to complete rating forms. Sometimes the psychologist will ask to meet with the caregiver only depending on the child’s age and concerns.
4. You will receive guidance and recommendations which can include referral to community resources, assistance obtaining support through your child’s school, or short term intervention within our practice (2-4 sessions).
